PETE Wild has left Barrow by mutual consent after a season in which he had the Cumbrians chasing League Two promotion.

Wild arrived at Holker Street after spells at Oldham and Halifax and made an immediate impression, taking them from relegation candidates to ninth in his first campaign.

This season Barrow finished eighth, one point outside the play-offs, after running out of steam in the run-in when finishing with a seven-game winless run.

The Bluebirds will now have a new man at the helm after a shock parting.

“Following a post-season review, Barrow AFC can confirm that it has today parted company with their manager Pete Wild,” said the club.

“It became apparent during the review that the club and Pete had different perspectives on the way forward, so it was mutually agreed that this was the best and most appropriate way to proceed.

“We wish Pete well in his future endeavours.”

Barrow confirmed Wild’s staff would remain in place and report to sporting director Iain Wood, who has started the search for a new head coach.
