Oliver Glasner has expressed his optimism that centre-back Marc Guehi will be back in action before the end of the season. However, he ruled out a return for Saturday's match against Fulham.

Guehi hasn't had the chance to play under the guidance of the Austrian coach who took over the reins later in February, having suffered a knee injury during a game against Brighton at the beginning of the same month.

This injury failed him in gaining valuable minutes for England during the international break in March but there is a potential opportunity for a comeback when Manchester United visits on May 6.

"He did parts of the sessions this week, but our sessions are 35 minutes. When we play Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday, it is just recovery sessions," Glasner disclosed following the 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Wednesday.

"We expect him (fully) back with the team next week and then let's see how he feels. We don't want to risk anything but it can be that he is in the squad against Man United. Let's see."

"We want him to play minutes in this season but always the health of the player is most important. We never risk anything."

Crystal Palace experienced a downturn in form with four losses from eight fixtures in the absence of the 23-year-old former Chelsea prodigy. However, the squad seems to have meshed well under Glasner with significant victories against Liverpool and West Ham this month, backed up by a commendable performance against Newcastle, sealing the match at 2-0 win courtesy of a Jean-Philippe Mateta double.

Glasner has issued a challenge to his team looking towards their fourth consecutive win but expresses his admiration for their unwavering devotion to his methodology of play.

"I told you when I arrived we are no magicians. We can just encourage them and it is getting that quality out on the pitch. I also have to say thank you to the players for the trust they gave us from day number one because we changed many things, but they were always listening.

"They were always working hard and believing in what we were telling them. Yes, it is great to see how the players can play."
