Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is expected to be out for at least a month having had scans on a hamstring injury.

The 21-year-old was injured in training on Thursday and missed Saturday’s 2-0 win away at Burnley.

The setback is a blow to Palace as Rak-Sakyi had just broke into the first team and won October’s player of the month award at Palace.

Rak-Sakyi has made strides under Roy Hodgson, making six Premier League appearances this season.

His chances have come amid injuries to star attackers Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, who have both been out for extended periods along with new signing Matheus Franca.

Hodgson said on Saturday: “It is bad. We don’t know 100 per cent. We’re not talking a week or two — we’re probably talking longer than that. It’s a real blow.

“Just as you get Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise back almost into the fold, you lose another player who we think is very important for us in our attacking play.

"We regained two and lost one. I would have preferred to have all three.”

The Eagles boss had said that Rak-Sakyi has the “talent” and “potential” to become Palace’s next Wilfried Zaha.

Rak-Sakyi is highly-regarded in south London having scored 15 goals on loan at Charlton in League One last season, winning their player of the year award.

He was signed from Chelsea in 2019 and penned a new deal until 2027 last summer.
