What are Cumbrians' chances of making England's Euro squad?

Bookmakers have given their latest odds on there being a Cumbrian presence in England's Euro 2024 squad.

Jarrad Branthwaite and Dean Henderson are both hoping to push their way into Gareth Southgate's thinking for the tournament in Germany.

Everton defender Branthwaite, from Wigton, was involved in Southgate's most recent squad although he did not feature in the games against Brazil and Belgium.

One-cap Crystal Palace keeper Henderson, from Whitehaven, is hoping to make a late run into the reckoning after returning to selection and form in the Premier League.

Southgate will name his preliminary squad for the finals next week.

Ex-Carlisle United defender Branthwaite is priced 2/5 by William Hill to make the final squad cut.

Betfair offer 4/9 for the Wigton star to go to Germany, with Betfair offering 4/7.

Henderson's odds have been reduced recently and he is now Evens with BetVictor to get the call by Southgate.

Other prices for the west Cumbrian keeper include 9/4 (Bet365), 13/10 (SpreadEx) and 15/8 (SkyBet).

Everton's ex-Carlisle loanee Jordan Pickford (1/33) looks certain to remain England's No1 with Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale (1/10) and Newcastle United's Nick Pope (4/7) the other senior goalkeeping contenders.

Henderson's Palace team-mate Sam Johnstone is 6/4 to make the squad. Both he and Pope have been sidelined with injury recently.

England take on Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland in friendlies on June 3 and 7 before the Euros later in the month.

Another Cumbrian, keeper James Trafford, is a 7/1 outsider to go to the Euros.

The Burnley player, from Greysouthen, was promoted from the Under-21 squad to the senior Three Lions ranks in March after Johnstone pulled out through injury.

A likelier summer for Trafford may involve further Under-21 internationals, with Lee Carsley's Young Lions set to take on Sweden and Northern Ireland in Euro qualifiers next month.
