Cyriel Dessers in 'advanced' Rangers transfer exit talks amid shock departure plans

Cyriel Dessers is reportedly in advanced talks over a shock Rangers transfer exit.

The big Nigerian striker notched 22 goals for the club last season and provided nine assists in what was a decent maiden campaign in Glasgow. Manager Philippe Clement has already allowed five players to move on as his revamp takes shape and now reports in Greece have claimed that PAOK are in discussions with Dessers in a bid to add him to their ranks.

Novasports claim the hitman is being seriously considered with talks already advanced as he looks to take the "next steps" in his career progression.

With his contract running until 2027, Gers would be due a substantial transfer fee should they sanction the player's exit even if, as the same publication suggests, the expected deal for Dessers on the table would be adequate.

Dessers, 29, was criticised last term by fans and media alike for his performances where he'd need three or four chances per game to hit the net once.

He appeared to win over some critics with his final goals tally but, as we at Football Scotland recently revealed to you, Clement would be willing to splash out on a new striker - a significant amount - for a proven, prolific new attacker.

That could be bankrolled by a Dessers sale.
