RB Leipzig forward Dani Olmo, who will represent Spain at Euro 2024, has insisted that his focus is not on a possible transfer away from the Bundesliga side this summer with his only priority currently being to play for his country. After that, though, a move has far from been ruled out.

"I am open to possibilities that may arise, but I am going to give you a cliche: I am focused on the first match of the Euro Cup," he is quoted as saying in Mundo Deportivo (print edition via Paisley Gates). The same outlet says that Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona have all taken a look at Olmo while he has been impressing in Germany.

The 26-year-old scored eight goals and assisted another five for Leipzig this season. He only played in a total of 25 games in all competitions at club level because of a variety of different injuries but has a $64m (£51m/€60m) release clause that can be activated before the end of June.

"I am calm and focused on what is coming, which is [Euro 2024], which is no small thing," Olmo told Mundo Deportivo just under a fortnight ago. "It is clear that it is good to see your name related to great teams in Europe and the world.

"That motivates me, but I am focused on the Euro and I hope we can return with the trophy. Then we'll see. It's nice to see your name related to the greats, but I insist, it's nothing that bothers me. I am focused on the field and then whatever has to be, will be."

Liverpool.com says: Olmo is a good player but Liverpool paying more than $60m for him, considering his injury history, does not necessarily feel particularly sensible. Signing a player like him (an attacking midfielder) does not feel like an immediate priority either, with a center-back required and a more pacy winger higher up the list of needs over the coming weeks.

Given that Olmo's release clause expires at the end of the month, there would be a rush to get a deal done, too, when he will be away with Spain at the European Championship. It's possible, of course, but it seems unlikely.
