Danny Welbeck was given a run out with Arsenal’s Under-23 side on Sunday while the first team prepared to face Sutton United in the FA Cup.

The England international was named in the starting line-up for the Premier League 2 fixture against Leicester City Under-23s, at Holmes Park in Leicestershire.

Welbeck has made six appearances for the Gunners since returning in January from an eight-month layoff, starting once – and scoring twice – in the FA Cup victory over Southampton.

His involvement casts a huge doubt over whether Welbeck will feature in Monday night’s match at Gander Green Lane.

And speaking ahead of the match, Wenger admitted that the non-league side will have the support of the nation behind them come kick-off.

"Sutton had six or seven players who didn’t play, so they didn’t play with their regular team," sais Wenger.

"I expect a completely different game against us.

"It will be the FA Cup with everybody supporting them. They’ve been preparing for this game for a long time in their heads with a huge enthusiasm, so you cannot compare that with the game against Boreham Wood."
