Darren Moore nearly achieved the impossible with West Brom but will he be the manager next season?

With Southampton beating Swansea on Tuesday, West Bromwich Albion went into their final league game on Sunday knowing that they’ve officially been relegated from the Premier League. Darren Moore dared the fans to dream of survival with his incredible spell as manager, but even the miracle results that he achieved weren’t enough to save Albion.

The damage done previously by first Tony Pulis and then latterly Alan Pardew, was impossible to repair at such a late stage in the season, but that didn’t stop Moore from trying. His spell in charge has reinvigorated The Hawthorns, with fans having renewed hope and pride in their team. The prospect of going down is daunting, but Moore has made Albion a family club again and there’s a positive feeling about what this club can achieve next season.

With relegation confirmed, the club’s board members have a massive decision to make. Is Moore the man to lead The Baggies back to the Premier League next season? Or do they go with a new face?

Brentford’s Dean Smith is the name that has been most strongly linked in recent days, with reports suggesting that he’s a frontrunner for the full-time managers job.

His record at Brentford, and previously Walsall, bodes well. His side’s play attractive football and he regularly uses young players, something that Albion fans would relish after seasons of terrible football.

As Albion fans know, the reputation and past experience of a manager does not bring with it a guarantee of success. What is a guarantee however, is that this is a crucial decision and it must be done quickly, as the club plans an immediate return to the top-flight.

Personally, I would give the job to Dean Smith, but how can you demote Darren Moore after all that he’s done for the club?

A decision has to be made either way, lets just hope that the club gets it right. Boing Boing!
