Liverpool is certain to be linked with moves for various Feyenoord players this summer. It’s par for the course when a club appoints a new manager for it to be reportedly interested in footballers with whom he’s worked with in the past.

The stories are even more inevitable when a player features in a position that a club is likely to target in its current recruitment drive. The Reds will be in the market for a center-back, with Joël Matip having left the club and Joe Gomez viewed as more of a full-back (at least by Jürgen Klopp, if Arne Slot’s view is not yet known).

As such, it’s no surprise that Feyenoord defender David Hancko is being linked with a move to Liverpool. He could well be on the move this summer, or at least that appears to be the case if we listen to his wife.

Hancko is married to professional tennis player Kristyna Pliskova. Her twin sister Karolina is also a pro and has reached the final at Wimbledon and the US Open.

Kristyna is not currently on the tour, having giving birth to Hancko’s son Adam in 2022. She has spoken briefly about the center-back’s transfer plans though.

"It will be dealt with this summer. Probably only after the [Euros] championship, but I'm not such an expert,” she told Sportovy. “I don't know if it's up for grabs, but I think he'd like to move on. Actually, we would both be happy,” Pliskova added.

“We'll see what will happen in the end. I'm not complaining, but there are definitely better places. For me, Spain or Italy.”

Or the north west of England, Kristyna? Hancko has given no indication that he will be moving to Anfield but he has recently spoken very warmly about Slot.

"I'm not surprised that such a big club like Liverpool has signed him," he said (via ESPN). "Hopefully within a few years he will be seen as one of the best trainers in the world," Hancko continued, in a press conference at Euro 2024, where he is representing Slovakia.

“I have been fortunate to work with him over the past two years and he has helped me a lot in my development, including tactically and the system he wants to play in. That has helped me enormously.”

"He is a very good coach and I wish him the best of luck. I have a feeling he will do well at Liverpool because he will now be working with better players than at Feyenoord. Although we have had two great seasons. This is a great move for him and I'm not surprised that such a big club like Liverpool has signed him." Could a reunion be on the cards?

Liverpool.com says: It's easy to join dots between a head coach and his former players. There is clearly huge respect from Hancko to Slot, though, and it would be a surprise if the new Liverpool boss did not reciprocate the feelings. This rumor will run until Hancko's future plans are confirmed.
