Sam Allardyce shouldn’t be the manager of Everton Football Club next season, even if you think he should be on merit. It is a situation that has gone beyond the point of return and cannot be recovered.

Reports have crept out of the club that majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is contemplating whether to let Allardyce see out the reminding year of his contract or not. Having to pay out a third manager during his brief time at the club will obviously be a bitter pill, but it’s one that has to be swallowed.

Football fans can be fickle, and sometimes a little stupid, but their influence is still huge. It’s often said that once the manager has lost the dressing room, then it’s all over. The same can be said of the fans too, once you have lost the crowd, it’s time to make a change. Most Everton fans were willing to give Allardyce a chance when he started, but he has blown that chance with average results and terrible football.

The survey says . . .

A survey was sent out to fans recently, which was well publicised, one of the questions asked to rate the performance of the current coaching staff out of 10. It gained a lot of media attention, but the results would have been interesting and most certainly would have shown the lack of support that he has. At the Newcastle match, a banner read out ‘out survey says . . . get out of our club’ which is a reference to both the survey and the popular game show Family Fortunes.

Allardyce was fortunate to get the job but has only further proved that he is incapable of playing good football. This is the best club side he’s ever had, and he’s failed to make any use of it. Even when he had the chance to change again after we were safe and play attacking football, he didn’t want to.

The fans have had enough, and he’ll never get their support. The negativity of a fan base feeds through the whole club and results will never be great while that happens, and under Allardyce, performances will never be good either.

Moshiri needs to make a change for the sake of the club. Another year with Allardyce would be an utter waste, and I don’t want him anywhere near the transfer decision-making process. Moshiri seemed confused on what to do after sacking Ronald Koeman, and ended up going for the easy option. This is the time for clear, concise and clinical thinking. Allardyce has well and truly lost the fans, and hopefully, soon he’ll lose his job.
