Dele Alli claims Tottenham ‘deserve’ to win a trophy because ‘we are one of the best teams in the world’
Dele Alli has insisted Tottenham Hotspur “deserve a trophy” because “we are one of the best teams in the world”.
Tottenham needed a late rescue act to book their spot in the FA Cup fifth round as they beat Southampton 3-2 in the fourth-round replay.
Jose Mourinho’s men looked to be heading out of the competition with less than 20 minutes remaining as Saints goals from Shane Long and Danny Ings overturned an early Jack Stephens own goal.
Spurs rallied when they needed to, though, with Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min – the two men asked to step up in the absence of Harry Kane – scoring the goals that sets up a home tie with Norwich next month.

And Alli believes Spurs deserve to lift the FA Cup to end their 12-year wait for silverware.
“For the fans, we have to win something,” said the 23-year-old.
“We deserve a trophy, it’s been a long time coming, but no-one’s going to give it to us and we have to keep pushing.
“We are one of the best teams in the world in the years we have been together.”
Tottenham now have a short break before travelling to Aston Villa on Sunday 16. They then host RB Leipzig in the first-leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash.
