Delhi girls hold off Sidney for 52-49 MAC road win

Jan. 11—The Delhi girls basketball team held off a late Sidney comeback effort to pick up a 52-49 road win Thursday in Midstate Athletic Conference action.

Natalie Vredenburgh led the way for the Bulldogs with 21 points in the win while Lexi Davis added seven.

Ava Cirigliano had 21 points for Sidney in the loss.

Delhi will host Walton/Downsville Tuesday while Sidney will host Oxford Wednesday.

Cooperstown 46, Poland 19

The Cooperstown girls shut down Poland for a 46-19 victory at home Thursday.

Rory Nelen notched a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds while adding six steals and two blocks in the win.

Elsewhere, Mia Kaltenbach had 12 points and six steals, Brenna Seamon notched seven rebounds, six steals and five assists to go with four points and Olivia Murdock pulled down 10 rebounds.

Cooperstown will visit Dolgeville next Tuesday.

Unatego 60, Deposit-Hancock 26

Unatego used a 24-2 third-quarter performance to pull away for a 60-26 win over Deposit-Hancock at home Thursday.

Lizzie Craft finished the game with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Harly Birdsall, meanwhile, scored 12 points while Bailey McCoy and Avery James each had seven.

Sarah Gross led D-H with 22 points.

Unatego will host Greene next Wednesday.

South Kortright 48, Hunter- Tannersville 22

South Kortright held Hunter-Tannersville to just two points in the first half en route to a 48-22 home victory Thursday.

Addy Eckert finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double in the win. Carlee Dropp added nine points and six rebounds.

SK will visit Charlotte Valley next Wednesday.

Edmeston/Morris 48, Sharon Springs 24 (Wednesday)

Edmeston/Morris defeated Sharon Springs 48-24 on the road Wednesday.

Molly Rifanburg led E/M with a game-high 13 points while Haylie Lund added 11 points in the win.

Lilly Tessier led SS with 10 points in the loss.

E/M improves to 11-1 and will visit Schenevus Friday.

The Cooperstown volleyball team swept Clinton in three sets Wednesday by scores of 25-17, 25-4, 25-13.

Among the Hawkeyes' top performers were Ava Lesko (six digs, three aces), Sophia Hotaling (23 digs, five aces), Alexis Wolfe (eight digs, seven assists, four kills), Lucy Hayes (11 assists, three digs), Violet Gentiles (10 digs) and Mia Pelcer (seven digs, four kills).

Cooperstown will host Westmoreland Friday.
