Didier Deschamps sets date to decide France future after World Cup Final defeat

France boss Didier Deschamps will hold talks over his future next month as he considers stepping down from the role in the wake of Sunday’s World Cup Final defeat.

“We will meet with Deschamps, I can’t wait to see his state of mind, we will do it quickly,” said FFF president Noel Le Graet in the immediate aftermath of Sunday's Final.

Deschamps and the France squad were flying back from Doha today and once home the French boss will take time to reflect on his future.

“It’s an important decision. It concerns his future. It’s a very personal decision,” his agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes agent, told RMC Sport on Monday morning.

“Didier will return to France, take a few days of rest, reflection. At the beginning of January, as he announced, he will see the president Le Graet to announce his decision.

“I believe that everything takes time. It’s a decision that concerns a professional future, a future in short. It’s not done lightly, in a stadium, after a final and such a scenario.

“It’s a decision that must be taken calmly. Of course, everyone is waiting for his decision, but I think he will make it in due time. He is the master of his decision. He will make it when he wants to make it.”
