'My family and I have thought of dying by suicide,' Rhea reveals

Rhea Chakraborty, who has been facing the heat from the media and investigative agencies, has finally opened up on a host of subjects pertaining to mystery surrounding the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput in an interview with India Today.

She was dating the late actor for a couple of years and is at the receiving end of a barrage of accusations ever since Sushant was found hanging at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020.

The actress claimed that she was silent for so long as it was out of respect for Sushant and due to the ongoing investigations. “I am going to fight and I am going to win,” said Rhea.

Rhea denied that she took any drugs while maintaining that Sushant used to smoke marijuana frequently. Rhea further alleged that the late actor was not close to his father as his father left his mother at an early age.

“Today I am calling for #JusticeforRhea,” Rhea appealed to the nation through the interview. Rhea said that both her and her family have been subjected to immense mental stress even before any fair trials. Rhea revealed that for the past few days, she had been thinking of dying by suicide.

”I am sorry that everyone has made a joke of your death,” Rhea said to the channel. Rhea said that she regrets that “a joke has been made of a human life.” Rhea also said that she doesn’t have any connection to any Bollywood gang or any sort of gang.

According to Rhea, MeToo allegations had affected Sushant’s sanity. She said that Sushant felt he was being “targeted” and thought there was an organised MeToo campaign against him.

Rhea said that the Mumbai police was not friendly with her as was being made out in the media. She said that neither did she have any political connections nor did she know Aaditya Thackeray personally.

She came to know about the late actor’s mental illness when they went on a Europe trip in October 2019. She also proclaimed that Sushant told her he feels claustrophobic in a flight, and took a medicine named Modafinil, without any prescription.

"When we reached Paris, he didn't leave his room for three days. Before the trip, he said that he was very happy. He had told me that he is very excited for the trip as he will show me his true side during our Europe stay. He will walk on the streets and have fun with me which he couldn't do in India. We were really happy. I was wondering what happened," she said.

She continued: "When we reached Italy, we stayed at a Gothic hotel, which we didn't know at the time of booking. In our room there was a dome like structure, which I didn't like. I asked him that we should change our hotel, but he insisted on staying there. He told me that there was something. I told him that it's a bad dream as I thought people get such ideas in such place. But he insisted on living in that hotel despite me telling him to change it. His health deteriorated there and he started having anxiety attacks."
