Rangers Fan View: Different week, same shambles

Another horrendous result for Rangers under Graeme Murty. I have to admit, I’m more than sick of his nonsense. Yet again his utter reluctance to give the players a chance to win the midfield battle cost us two points, meaning we only left Fir Park with a 2-2 draw.

The system especially away from home really needs to be looked at. We need to go with three in the middle with a holding player in there. Windass, who wasn’t our worst player at Fir Park, needs removed for tougher games. During this 90 minutes he was very poor. He was made look like Pele by the nature of Russell Martin’s pathetic display. Martin was solely to blame for giving away the penalty; a defender of his experience shouldn’t be getting caught wrong side like that. It’s easy to see why Norwich let him come up on loan. Hopefully he goes back down in the summer. He’s simply not good enough in any way shape or form.

Going back to Motherwell’s second goal. It comes down to the lack of holding player on our part. I felt Dorrans and Docherty didn’t know who should have been holding and Campbell took advantage of that.

The first half was brutal. It was summed up by James Tav’s miscontrol and frankly we were lucky to get to half-time only two behind. And for me it boils down to Murty and his unwillingness to change his system. We are far too predictable. Like I said last week, he’s a Poundland Mark Warburton. The quicker he’s removed from the role, the better. He was a nonsense appointment. Unfortunately it’s us fans who have to put up with him pretending to be a manager until May.

However, during the second half Jamie Murphy deserves praise for his showing. In my opinion, he was our best performer and he took his goal well. We probably should have went on and won the game especially with us getting level with over half an hour still to play. But the lack of movement in the dugout with regards to substitutions left me feeling frustrated.

Overall, it was a typical game of two halves and probably very watchable from a neutral’s point of view. However, it was just another poor display given to us by these players and this manager.

Furthermore, I feel like we are treading water until the end of the season. At this point, I have zero confidence that we will employ any sort of three-man midfield in any of the remaining games.

In fact, the ultimate embarrassment would be finishing fourth behind a manager who rejected the job in October and a newly promoted side.

This group of players and management and good at giving us all the unwanted records. Unfortunately I feel they will go the whole hog and we will finish fourth at the end of the season. However I hope that is not the case.
