Fermanagh rower, Dineka Maguire took to the coastal rowing international stage once again at the 2024 European Rowing Coastal & Beach Sprint Championships which was held on June 20–23 in Gdańsk, Poland.

Following on from last year's success in the woman’s double, Dineka was paired up with fellow rowers Niamh Doogan (Kincasslagh Rowing Club), Gillian Hosford (Castletownshed Rowing Club), Lisa Lamont (Cairndhu Rowing club) and Amy Shovlin (Loughros Rowing Club) to race the Women’s quad.

Ranked as IRL 01 from the Irish qualifiers the girls took to the stage to come away with an impressive 5th position.

"Every year it takes a whole community to get to the start line," said Dineka.

"People sometimes only congratulate the crew on results but between boat and oar suppliers, supporters, boat handlers, sponsorship, family, coaches and many more.

"The result is as much theirs as it is mine. A good result is a nice way to thank all those people that have helped us along the way.

"Myself and the crew will be hoping to qualify for the World Rowing Coastal Championships, to be held on September 6-8 in Genoa, Italy.

Crews will race 4km and 6km around a course of buoys and turning points in the open sea, providing some exhilarating racing.

Qualifiers will happen later in the year at the Irish Coastal Championships in Bantry, Co. Cork.
