E/M, L/M girls win at home; Oneonta boys fall in STAC semis

Feb. 14—The Edmeston/Morris girls basketball team came away with a 56-43 victory in the Tri-Valley League playoffs Wednesday in Morris.

Molly Rifanburg had a game-high 20 points to lead E/M while Brenna Bolton made six three-pointers and finished with 18 points and Haylie Lund added 13 points in the win.

Issy and Gabby Seamon scored 19 and 11 points, respectively for RS.

Each team awaits its first opponent in next week's Section IV playoffs.

Laurens/Milford 66, Worcester 29

Laurens/Milford made 13 three-pointers in a 66-29 home win over Worcester in the Tri-Valley League playoffs Wednesday.

Delaney Maison made five of those threes to finish with a game-high 23 points while also adding seven steals.

Kyrah Andrades scored 16 points while Brooke Mann added 14.

Allison Boyle led Worcester with 10 points in the loss.

Laurens/Milford (12-8) awaits its first sectional playoff opponent.

Franklin 45, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton 43

Franklin edged Gilbertsville-Mount Upton 45-43 at home in the Tri-Valley League playoffs Wednesday.

The Purple Devils found themselves trailing heading into the fourth quarter but were able to finish the game with a 12-7 run.

Shannon Kingsbury led the way with 25 points in the win.

Andrea Favinger and Mackenzie Barnes had 15 and 13 points, respectively, in the loss for G-MU.

Sidney 40, Bainbridge-Guilford 38

A fourth-quarter rally allowed Sidney to edge Bainbridge-Guilford 40-38 in Wednesday's Midstate Athletic Conference matchup.

Ava Cirigliano was the top scorer for the Sabers with 18 points while Bri Taylor added eight.

Peyton Umbra hit six three-pointers for the Bobcats to finish with 18 points as well as three assists and three steals.

Johnna Henderson, meanwhile, notched a double-double of 14 points and 16 rebounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL

The Oneonta boys' fourth-quarter rally came up just short in Wednesday's 62-59 loss to Johnson City in the STAC Semifinals.

Trailing by nine entering the fourth quarter, the Yellowjackets couldn't close the gap in time. OHS made 11 three-pointers in the game but only three came in the second half.

Brady Carr made five of those three-pointers to finish with 22 points. Britten Zeh and Makya Morrison added 16 and 10 points, respectively.

Zubayr Griffin led Johnson City with 23 points.

Oneonta (10-8) now awaits its first opponent in next week's sectional playoffs.
