EastEnders to revisit Denny's death in emotional scenes

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders airs emotional scenes for Phil Mitchell and Sharon Watts next week as they reflect on Denny's tragic death.

The former couple are reminded of Denny in Lola Pearce-Brown's heartbreaking final episode on Wednesday (May 31).

Next week's episodes see Lola's health continue to deteriorate rapidly, so one of the nurses informs her family that they should start saying their goodbyes.

A new spoiler picture released by EastEnders shows Phil struggling with his emotions surrounding Lola's imminent death.

Phil heads to Number 43, where he and Sharon take time to reflect on Lola's life.

They also remember Denny, acknowledging that he also died at a tragically young age.

Phil, Jay, Kathy and Callum will be among those who share one-on-one goodbyes with Lola before she passes away.

The show is keeping quiet about whether Ben will get this opportunity, as he has taken his trip to the US and may not make it home in time.

Danielle Harold, who plays Lola, recently said: "It's been really difficult filming these last few scenes over, because it does get really tough, especially towards the end.

"It's such a heartbreaking diagnosis and it's not nice to watch or to play, so working with the charities has been so important for us because we want to portray Lola's diagnosis both accurately and sensitively while also raising awareness to hopefully make a change."

On working with her co-stars, she added: "We're all just so close, we're like a real family unit – both on and off screen!

"It's been so special doing this with them and I really couldn't have done this with anyone else because we just all work in such a great way together and taking on this story was such a team effort from all of us."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
