A party being held as a farewell to Jurgen Klopp has been cancelled.

Earlier this year the Liverpool FC manager announced his decision to step down at the end of the season. With the season drawing to a close, an event was organised on Sunday, May 19 to watch his final game.

The event, which was being held at Aintree Racecourse was branded as "the end of an era farewell party for fans. The party was set to include a screening of Klopp's final game between Liverpool vs Wolves on a big screen in the Red Rum Garden.

There was also to be a host of food outlets, bars and plenty of 'football action'. However, the event which was set to take place from 2pm to 7pm, has now been cancelled.

A statement shared on the Jockey Club website simply reads: "This event has been cancelled and will no longer be going ahead." Klopp joined the Reds in October 2015 after owners Fenway Sports Group recruited him to succeed Brendan Rodgers, and the German has gone on to win every top-level trophy available at Anfield, including the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League the following year.

The manager also guided the team to Carabao and FA Cup successes in 2022 before losing out on a second league title to Manchester City by one point and finishing as beaten finalists to Real Madrid in the Champions League in Paris. Klopp was also the manager who won Liverpool's only Club World Cup title to date.
