When the Everton team was announced before the start of the Man City game there was a feeling of dread. An out of form Morgan Schneiderlin was selected in a midfield two with Wayne Rooney against one of the best teams to have ever played in the Premier League.

It was tactical suicide from a manager who is supposed to know how to not get beat. Thankfully after they scored their third goal Man City seemingly took their foot off the pedal, or it could have been a lot worse.

It could get a whole lot worse next in the next game against Liverpool, who probably wouldn’t be so keen to let up on the pressure. They are another team who have quick and mobile players and not many Everton fans are feeling optimistic about it.

It’s been a difficult season for Everton and it’ll feel like a relief when it’s over. There are six games to go and hopefully, there are only six more games to go until Everton can part ways with Allardyce. The football has been terrible, and the results don’t justify it.

I had hoped Everton could finish in 7th and claim that final Europa League spot, but that looks unlikely now with Burnley being six points ahead with a game in hand. After Liverpool, Everton have a fairly easy run-in, but it’s not going to be enough.

This was meant to be the season where we closed the gap on the top six, but instead, we’ll find ourselves finishing behind Burnley and maybe a few others. After all the money Everton have spent, the squad still requires improvement.

Doesn’t seem like he cares

Allardyce has proven over the last few months that he shouldn’t be the man to try and take the club forward. There appears to be very little plan going into matches and no system. Quite frankly, it doesn’t really seem like he cares. He’ll be taking his large paycheck and riding off into the sunset with it.

This is the largest club job that we have had, and the best set of players he’d at to work with, England aside. He’s not used the opportunity to prove anyone wrong and for the man who once tried to claim he could manage any club in the world, he’s only proved how laughable those comments were.

A lot of the decisions he has made have been baffling. We can only hope that he gets it right against Liverpool or we could once again find ourselves 3-0 down before half time. It’s been a difficult season, and it seems like a relief that it’s coming towards an end. Once it does, hopefully, we and be excited about the future with a new man in charge.
