ENG vs IND 2021: Danish Kaneria Chooses Between Rishabh Pant & Wriddhiman Saha For Fourth Test

Rishabh Pant has been a test sensation for India in the 22 yards since his re-incarnation at last year’s Border Gavaskar Trophy. From a point of being battered as an away option for India to becoming a hero in Australia followed by England series. This time once again he is being questioned- but in a different way.

Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has a view on Pant’s inclusion on India’s fourth test against England at The Oval. According to him, Pant is exhausted in his service that is easily reflected in his current form in England and India should think of including Wriddhiman Saha.

“Rishabh Pant no doubt, is a brilliant cricketer, everybody gets form and loses form and if he is rested to regain his form back, does not mean he is out of the team altogether. I think it’s time now for Wriddhiman Saha to take the gloves” Kaneria said on his Youtube channel.

He wasn’t only cynic about Pant’s current whereabouts but lauded him for his current accomplishments in test cricket but he felt that Pant needs some rest to come back and as India already have Wriddhiman Saha to take on the gloves.

“Rishabh Pant had a good tour of Australia, played well in the home series (against England) as well but since then he is struggling with form. He is not able to play his natural game, he is trying to score runs by stepping outside the crease” Kaneria added.

Furthermore, according to him, Saha might be beneficial to add runs in the tail and be more responsible with willow looking into how Pant’s form is going in England currently.

“Wriddhiman Saha is available for the Indian team, has the time come to give him a chance because he seems like a steady player and is a brilliant wicket-keeper as well. It seems like he can stay at the crease, can provide runs if India need like 50-60 runs down the end, so Saha can make it into the playing XI,” said Kaneria with an affirmation.

In 2018, in Oval Pant slammed his maiden ton hitting Adil Rashid for a six over long on. That was indeed a thrilling final day at Ovals and Pant became the first wicketkeeper Indian batsman to score a ton in England.

But lately in the three tests now, Pant’s highest score has been 37 with not a convincing game too. But since the game is next at Oval, where Pant proved his heroics back in 2018, who knows, once again, Pant would redeem his game.

Team India after a disastrous first innings and flaw performance in Headingley will look forward to a few changes in Playing XI or might go with the same combination.

The fourth test starts from tomorrow at The Oval, it would be a scintillating show as the series is now tied at 1-1.
