Former Australian skipper Steve Smith congratulated the Indian cricket team on their mammoth Test match win against England at Lord’s. This was India’s third Test win at this venue, one which will be celebrated across generations. India bowled out England inside 60 overs with the side needing 276 runs to win. They were bowled out for 120 with Virat Kohli and his team gaining a 1-0 lead in the series.

Meanwhile, a Youtube video of Steve Smith’s message to the Indian team is making the rounds on social media. He spoke about how India dominated the game against the hosts while also keeping a word on the upcoming Ashes series against England.

” I woke up this morning to see the result of the England-India Test match. What a game of cricket and what an advertisement of Test cricket. Now that’s why I love Test cricket to see it go down to day five in the final session. That’s what its all about, you fight hard for five days an for India to get the result at the end of the day congratulations. Hopefully, there is plenty more good cricket to be played in the series and then for us later in the year in the series. I can’t wait” Smith was heard saying.

The Australian cricketers including Steve Smith are now available to play in the remaining IPL season after Cricket Australia have allowed them to participate in the remaining season. Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has also backed the moved by the board saying that it will be ideal preparation for the players for the T20 World Cup later this year.

“No doubt it’s their best preparation to be in those exact conditions, playing in probably the strongest domestic T20 tournament in the world,” said Ponting, who will head to Dubai as head coach of IPL side Delhi Capitals.
