ENG vs IND 2021: Watch – Ajinkya Rahane’s Poor Run Continues As He Edges One To Moeen Ali

Team India batsman Ajinkya Rahane’s poor run in the ongoing series continued as he managed only 14 runs in the first innings of the Oval Test on Thursday. With Rahane’s dismissal, the visitor’s reel at 117/6 with a long tail to follow.

Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja began for India in the second session before Jadeja perished soon after the break. Kohli was the only Indian batsman who looked in control and played some gorgeous shots to reach his second half-century of the series. Ajinkya Rahane, although shaky, gave Kohli company and it did seem like the pair would bail India out of trouble.

However, a piece of brilliance from Ollie Robinson coupled with a lapse in concentration from Kohli ended the latter’s innings just after he had gotten to fifty. Rahane also followed the suit soon after leaving the visitors in deep deep trouble.

He had been leaving them fairly well until this point before poking at one which ended at the hands of Moeen Ali. It was once again that probing line around the off stump with a hint of shape away. Pitched at a fuller length and Ajinkya Rahane’s feet didn’t go anywhere as he goes fishing at the ball. In the process, he edged it to Moeen who takes a sharp low grab at gully. The third ump had a look at it but it was taken cleanly by the English all-rounder

Rahane’s vigil has been ended and he’ll be disappointed with this dismissal. It’s been a pattern for him and he’s once again nicked one through to the slip cordon.
