Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s wicket fell very much against the run of play. He scored 59 off 156 balls and added a stand of 82 runs for the second wicket. The Indian opener survived a few close calls and looked good to stay unbeaten until he played down the wrong line of an Ollie Robinson delivery.

Robinson had earlier got very close to dismissing him in his innings. The England pacer kept bowling the incoming delivery to Rohit who for once ran out of luck. India are still well and truly behind in the game with the rest of the batters needing to put up a fight.
England still have a good lead to protect with their bowlers seeking eight more wickets away from a series leveling win.
England batters led by Joe Root dominated day 2 as they piled up runs to put the Indian bowlers under pressure. Root (121) scored his third century of the series with Rory Burns (61), Haseeb Hameed (61) and Dawid Malan (70) chipping in with crucial contributions.
Indian bowlers cleaned up the England tailenders to keep the lead under 400 runs. India lost KL Rahul early yet again in the second innings. Rohit and Pujara then reshaped India’s innings before Robinson removed Rohit as to bring the hosts back into the game.
