Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg notified that the pressure started creeping up on the skipper Joe Root which was visible through the catch he dropped of Jasprit Bumrah and lost focus eventually. The home side England despite having a big say in the test wasn’t up to the mark on the last day and it cost them the Test.

A lot of criticism took place on experienced campaigners like James Anderson and Joe Root’s for their tactics against the tail-enders. They peppered a lot of short stuff to show their aggression but the fieldset was spread which allowed the singles for Shami and Bumrah. England from a winning position went on to lose the Test.

Brad Hogg Feels Joe Root Got Into Emotional Stress

Brad Hogg mentioned that Joe Root dropping Jasprit Bumrah’s catch was an effect of the partnership building between the tail-enders and it affected his focus a lot. He added Root got into emotional stress with the field setting not being appropriate and England slipped a chance of winning the Test.

“Joe Root dropped Bumrah in slip off Moeen Ali. I thought he had a sore back there as well but because of all that emotional stress, because Shami and Bumrah were starting to get a little bit of a partnership together, the captain started to lose focus and he lost focus on his fielding and he dropped the catch which could have helped England stay in the contest and still have a chance of winning,” Brad Hogg told on his Youtube Channel.

Brad Hogg Reckons Siraj Kept It Nice And Simple

Brad Hogg felt that England lost the plot after pressure crept into them from Indian bowlers and lauded the Indian bowlers for being aggressive. He added that Shami and Bumrah tried to little more attacking Joe Root and Hameed, which slightly did not work, but Siraj was ideal to keep the pressure on the hold.

England just could not cope up with the pressure that was mounting on them from Indian bowlers. I thought after the first couple of wickets India got, Hameed was in and Shami and Bumrah were starting to get a little too aggressive.

“They tried too be too attacking, trying to bowl those inswingers, saw lot of balls going down the leg side. But then Siraj came on and created that pressure again and kept it nice and simple,” He added.

England was bundled out for 120 on the final day under 60 overs and India has taken a 1-0 lead in the series.
