England kicked off their Euro 2024 campaign with a victory over Serbia thanks to Jude Bellingham's first-half header.

Bellingham showed great desire to beat a defender to Bukayo Saka's cross and power his header home in the 13th minute. It was a dream start for Gareth Southgate's side, who were made to work hard to get all three points in the second-half.

Next up for the Three Lions is a clash against Denmark on Thursday evening. The game kicks off at 5pm and will take place at the Frankfurt Arena, but below is how Southgate's side rated against Serbia.

Jordan Pickford - 7

Did not have much to do but made a good save to keep out Dusan Vlahovic as Serbia pressed late on.

Kyle Walker - 7

Played a pivotal role in England's opening goal and always a threat with his pace.

John Stone - 7

Beat injury and illness to start the opener and did not put a foot wrong.

Marc Guehi - 8

Settled in to tournament football brilliantly with an assured display against a tough forward line.

Kieran Trippier - 6

Advanced into the Serbia half at any given opportunity as he continues to deputise at left-back with Luke Shaw still not match-fit.

Declan Rice - 7

Has enough nous and know-how to boss the midfield on this stage and was rarely rattled.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 6

Gareth Southgate's biggest gamble with his team selection and the experiment of shifting the Liverpool right-back into midfield still needs time to pay off despite some nice passing.

Bukayo Saka - 7

A livewire performance down the right, laying on the opening goal and proving a constant thorn in the side of the Serbia defence.

Jude Bellingham - 8

Brave and powerful and that is not just describing his early header to break the deadlock as the Real Madrid man ran the show for large periods, especially in the first period.

Phil Foden - 6

Still seemingly struggling to find a home in the England XI and often takes up similar spaces to Bellingham, leaving him ineffectual at times.

Harry Kane - 6

Hardly a touch of the ball in the first half but more involved after the break and had a header brilliantly turned against the crossbar.

Substitutes

Conor Gallagher - 6

On as a more natural midfield partner for Rice but was largely restricted to defensive duties.

Jarrod Bowen - 6

Almost immediately set up a goal for Kane as he replaced the flagging Saka.

Kobbie Mainoo - n/a

A late change with England dropping deeper.
