Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood could face FA disciplinary action after footage emerged of two girls apparently visiting their hotel rooms in Reykjavik after the pair represented England against Iceland on Saturday, breaking the country's strict coronavirus protocols.

Neither player trained in Reykjavik on Monday morning and will not travel with the squad to Copenhagen for Tuesday's Nations League qualifier against Denmark .

Two Icelandic girls revealed the visit to their Snapchat followers on Sunday night, with the footage appearing to show Foden, 20, and Greenwood, in England training kit in their hotel.

Icelandic media outlet DV reported that one of the girls can be heard saying: “Casual Sunday here with [my friend]. She was booking a hotel to meet who?”

The other replies: "Mason Greenwood, and I’m nervous. Very f*****g nervous."

Iceland requires anyone entering the country to quarantine for five days and avoid all contact with others.

The England team were given special exemption from the regulations for Saturday’s Nations League qualifier but the players were not to meet anyone outside of the travelling party, except during the match, and were only allowed to leave the hotel for training and the fixture.

Manchester City’s Foden, who has a two-year-old son and a long-term girlfriend, made his full debut in England’s 1-0 win, while Greenwood was a late replacement for Harry Kane.

Their likely absence against Denmark gives Gareth Southgate another selection headache, with Kane set to be assessed after his first minutes of pre-season .
