After beating 6-2 Iran and playing the USA on November 25, England will conclude their group-stage campaign against Wales.

England will be hoping to go far into the knockout stages, having made the semi-finals of the last World Cup and the final of Euro 2020.

The sides met in the group stages of Euro 2016, a match which England went on to win 2-1, requiring a 91st-minute winner from Daniel Sturridge. Gareth Bale got Wales's goal.

England are optimistic that captain Harry Kane has not suffered any damage to his ankle after the striker underwent a scan and took part in training.

The news on his injury was treated as encouraging inside the England camp, with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford confirming the striker had trained on Wednesday.

“I think he (Kane) is good, a little bit sore but he is fine and he’s out on the grass today with is,” said Pickford. “He is our captain, he has been good. He is fine, yeah.”

Kane was sent for a scan after undergoing a heavy challenge in the victory over Iran, which both the player and Southgate were unconcerned about on Monday night.

The FA said that Kane took part in an indoor recovery session on Tuesday and it remains unclear whether or not the scan was booked as a precaution or because he felt any additional discomfort.

When is the match?

The match between England and Wales takes place at 7pm UK time on Tuesday, November 29 (10pm in Qatar and 2pm EST).

Where will it take place?

The game will be played in the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium (also known as the Al-Rayyan Stadium) in Al-Rayyan. The 40,000 seater ground was inaugurated on 18 December 2020 when it hosted the Amir Cup final, and is the home of Al Rayyan Sports Club.

It is the host location for all three of Wales's group stage matches, which could give Robert Page's men a slight advantage through familiarity.

What TV channel is it on?

The match will be shown live on BBC One. You can also stream it on BBC iPlayer.

Head-to-head record

England and Wales have played each other 103 times – the first fixture taking place in 1879, and the most recent in 2020.

England have won 68, drawn 21 and lost just 14. You have to go back to 1984 for Wales's last victory against England. The Three Lions have won the last six encounters.

What are they saying?

Bale, who moved level with Chris Gunter on 109 caps – the record for the Wales men's national team – cancelled out Timothy Weah's first-half strike from the penalty spot eight minutes from time in their 1-1 draw with USA after Tim Ream had clattered into him.

Bale said: "The goal was exactly what we needed. It didn't matter who scored it and it gave us a foothold to try and go and win it.

"I felt that we played very well in the second half, so personally, it was great to get the goal. But like I said, the most important thing was that the team scored.

"We just need to keep the momentum going now, recover and go again."

Wales boss Page said: "Look at the pool of players England have got, it was a big ask for Iran to get anything out of the game.

"England are favourites, USA are second favourites. But there will be a few surprises along the way.

"We're just planning for a tough game on Friday (against Iran) and that takes us into the last game against England."
