EURO 2016 TEAM PREVIEW: GROUP B - WALES

Tip: Last 16

Cult hero: Joe Ledley was in danger of missing Euro 2016 due to a broken leg, but he’s back in the frame now and Welsh fans will be relieved. His hipster beard and comedy dancing have endeared him to supporters far and wide, while he has a left peg that can blow holes through the back of the net.

Star player: How Welsh fans would have loved to have seen Ryan Giggs’ name here, alas the former Welsh wizard never saw major tournament action during his playing career. Instead, we have a pretty decent player in Real Madrid galactico Bale. Seven goals in qualifying were instrumental in Chris Coleman’s side progressing, his ability to turn games on their head with moments of speed or genius critical.

Player to watch: Not many people will have heard too much of George Williams and that is understandable after a short career blighted by injury and club hopping. His potential to change games off the bench, though, could be key especially with the Welsh forwards a mediocre bunch at best. Like Alli, he is an MK Dons youth player come good whose speed and invention could help unlock defences.

How they qualified: They tried their best to take it down to the final game after an amazing early run in qualifying, but Bosnia and Israel could not find an extra gear to stop them progressing behind Belgium. Their 1-0 win and 0-0 draw against Marc Wilmots’ side shows they can mix it with the best.

Line-up prediction: Hennessey, Gunter, Chester, Williams, Davies, Taylor, Ramsey, King, Allen, Bale, Robson-Kanu
