West Ham will face Cypriot side AEK Larnaca in the last-16 of the Europa Conference League when their continental campaign gets back underway next month.

The Hammers finished top of their group with a perfect six wins from six before Christmas, earning a place as one of the eight seeded teams in the last-16, while Larnaca were among those to have to come through a knockout playoff, beating Ukrainian outfit Dnipro 1-0 on aggregate.

The first leg of the tie will take place at the AEK Arena in Larnaca on March 9, with the return at the London Stadium a week later.

The Hammers’ European form has been in stark contrast to their Premier League struggles this season, with David Moyes’ side currently 18th in the division ahead of Saturday’s crucial meeting with Nottingham Forest.

On first viewing, the draw appears to have been kind to Moyes’ side, who could also have faced the likes of Lazio or Fiorentina.

Formed in 1994, Larnaca have never won the Cypriot title but are currently top of the division and qualified for Europe by finishing as runners-up last season.

They began their campaign in the Europa League but dropped into the Conference League after finishing third in their group, behind Fenerbahce and Rennes, despite winning only one of their six matches.
