Europa Conference League draw LIVE! West Ham discover quarter-final fate
Europa Conference League draw – LIVE!
West Ham await their fate in the Europa Conference League draw quarter-finals today. Despite some patchy Premier League form, David Moyes’ completed the job against AEK Larnaca on Thursday night, running out 6-0 winners on aggregate.
While domestic life has been difficult for the Hammers, they look like one of the favourites for the competition as a whole. Nice and Fiorentina offer strong competition but, having reached the Europa League semi-finals last season, there’s little reason West Ham cannot dream about a famous trophy win at the end of the season, even if the Premier League is not going quite to plan.
Roma last year won the tournament and the celebrations of Jose Mourinho’s team went some way to establishing the Conference League as something to win. For West Ham, that is hardly something to pass up. Follow the draw LIVE with Standard Sport’s dedicated blog!

Who can West Ham face in Europa Conference League quarter-finals? Potential opponents for draw today
12:49 , Jonathan Gorrie
West Ham are among the favourites for glory in the Europa Conference League competition.
David Moyes’ side beat AEK Larnaca 4-0 at home on Thursday evening to seal safe passage into the next round on a night where a number of other big-name teams crashed out.
Lazio and Villarreal failed to make it into the quarter-finals after losing to AZ Alkmaar and Anderlecht respectively.
The Belgians of course have already lost to the Hammers this season, raising hopes that the Premier League relegation battlers could be on course for a famous trophy win. Still, Fiorentina and Nice provide stern competition in the latter stages.
There is huge quality in Moyes’ squad, even aside from some patchy domestic form. In Declan Rice, Lucas Paqueta, Nayef Aguerd and Gianluca Scamacca, they have an enviable spine capable of taking on any team.

When did Manchester United last win the Europa League?

The club last lifted the trophy in 2017, under the watch of one Jose Mourinho.
With Arsenal knocked out last night, they are surely one of the favourites to do so again.
Real Betis 0-1 Man United (1-5 agg): Red Devils sail into Europa League quarter-finals
10:26 , Jonathan Gorrie
Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game as Manchester United cruised into the Europa League quarter-final.
Having last week built a commanding 4-1 lead over Real Betis, it would have taken a collapse of some magnitude in Seville to see Erik ten Hag’s side give up their place in the final eight.
Juanmi missed a sitter from close range early in the first half that could have changed the script as a packed Benito Villamarin stadium urged on their side to try to wipe out the three-goal deficit.
United goalkeeper David de Gea dived full stretch to deny a long-range effort from 41-year-old Joaquin before Facundo Pellistri struck the post with a close-range strike for the visitors.
De Gea produced an incredible reflex save to keep out a header soon after halftime, but United slowly took control of the game.
Jose Mourinho’s Roma a dangerous opponent

The self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ helped make his name in management after winning the UEFA Cup with Porto, beating Celtic in 2003 before lifting the Champions League a year later.
Europa Conference League winners last time out, Mourinho’s star may have waned in recent years but he remains a brilliant cup manager.
Oh, how he’d love to beat Manchester United…
Mikel Arteta admits Europa League exit is ‘huge blow’ for Arsenal after penalty shootout defeat
10:08 , Jonathan Gorrie
Mikel Arteta was left frustrated by a sluggish display from Arsenal as they were knocked out of the Europa League by Sporting.
After a 2-2 draw in Lisbon, the last-16 tie remained level after 90 and then 120 minutes in north London, with Granit Xhaka’s first-half finish cancelled out by a stunning Pedro Goncalves strike from near the halfway line that floated over Aaron Ramsdale.
It went to a penalty shootout, with Gabriel Martinelli the only player to miss his spot-kick as the Gunners were beaten 5-3 and had their European campaign ended.
