Europa League table 2023-24: Group standings, fixture and results for matchday 1

The 2023-24 Europa League group stage got underway on Thursday night.

Europe’s second-biggest club competition, back in its regular haunt of Thursday nights, boasts a plethora of prestigious names this season with Liverpool off to a winning start as they beat Austrian side LASK.

West Ham welcomed Serbia’s Backa Topola to London Stadium and had to come from behind before eventually sealing victory. Fellow Premier League side Brighton fell to a 3-2 defeat to AEK Athens on their first-ever European night.

There was a night to remember for Rangers, as they edged past Real Betis at Ibrox, while Romelu Lukaku was on target for Roma in Moldova as they edged past Sheriff Tiraspol.
