Cenk Tosun has scored four goals in his last three games for Everton and has quickly gone from looking like a player who might be another waste of money for the club, to a player who looks like the answer to our long search for a striker.

That’s not a waste of money in terms of not being good enough. Everton have spent a lot of money recently on players that they have not given enough game time too. Players like Sandro Ramirez who was never given a chance to settle at the club. Players like Davy Klaassen who the manager doesn’t like, and doesn’t seem to want to give an opportunity to.

It seemed like Tosun was going to be another player who fell through the cracks. Thankfully though, the tide has turned. He now seems like a definite name on the team sheet and is starting to show everyone what he’s all about. Big, powerful, can hold up the ball well and knows how to find the back of the net. Everton fans are falling in love with him, and it’s not hard to see why.

He already had a fanatical fan base

Besiktas fans loved him, and still do. On all the social media channels, you see a flood of Turkish football fans who will tell anyone who can read that Tosun was always going to be a star in the Premier League. The £27m that Everton paid for him now looks like a great deal. He’s the type of player who brings in a sense of excitement into the stands, and as much as the fans are falling in love with him, it seems as though he is falling in love with the club too.

His first goal against Stoke was a quick reaction and a classic poacher’s goal. His second goal was the type that Everton fans love. The type that you could easily imagine the likes of Dixie Dean, Bob Latchford or Duncan Ferguson scoring. A diving header at the near post, with little regard for the defender’s boot that was trying to kick the ball away. He celebrated in front of the delirious Everton fans as they both celebrated a late winner in the Staffordshire snow.

It seems just a few weeks ago he’d be a player that came and went without being given much of a chance. Instead, he is winning Everton football matches and making the Evertonian fans feel what all the Besiktas fans felt for four years. The relationship between him and the fans has started very well, and it only looks like it’s going to bet better. Tosun is well on his way to becoming a fan favourite.
