The historic final league fixture at Goodison Park will be announced on Tuesday.

The Premier League is scheduled to release the calendar for the 2024/25 season in the morning and the biggest story of the day will be the revelation of the farewell fixture for one of the league’s grandest arenas.

The fixture list will kickstart what will be an emotional year as the Grand Old Lady hosts one final campaign before the club moves to its state-of-the-art new waterfront home.

Preparations are already advanced for the countdown to Everton’s departure from Goodison. Every game will take on added significance, not just to Blues but to the visiting clubs, their players, staff and supporters as one-by-one they tick off a final visit to a stadium that holds so many memories.

That sentiment was summed up poignantly by Chris Wilder, after his relegated Sheffield United side were the last to attend Goodison last season. Asked by the ECHO what the stadium meant to him, he described it as a “bear pit” and hailed the 'class' of Blues supporters. He added: “I have been here as a player, been here as a manager and been here watching games and have that understanding that when this place gets rocking they get on the front foot and this is a really difficult place to get a result. So I should imagine there are a lot of Evertonians who will be really sad to move away. But it is part of a bright future.”

Every match will be poignant in an emotional season that will now start with added significance, with a tribute to Kevin Campbell expected to take place at the start of the campaign following the tragic death of the former Blues striker. The 24/25 season will kick-off on Saturday, August 17 and run until Sunday, May 25 - which will be the date of the final league game at Goodison should Everton finish the campaign at home.
