CARLISLE United chief executive Nigel Clibbens has said that the club's Brunton Park fan zones during Euro 2024 have been 'fantastic'.

The fan zone has been open on four occasions to date, showing Scotland's opening day defeat to Germany and subsequent draw with Switzerland, as well as showing England's victory over Serbia and stalemate with Denmark.

The fan zone is also set to show both nation's final group clashes, with England in action against Slovenia, and Scotland set to face Hungary.

Over 1,000 fans were in attendance for the club's latest England fan zone which took place on Thursday, June 20, with Clibbens also in and amongst the fans.

Speaking on the club's social media channels, he said: "It has been fantastic.

"What an atmosphere. There are people of all ages, from small kids all the way up to grandmas and grandads and it is absolutely fantastic.

"I think it is only going to grow and grow, it is certainly the place to be to watch the Euros, anybody who is anywhere near Carlisle needs to get down here and participate in this because it is absolutely brilliant."

"These things take time to grow and for people to come and experience it but the city is crying out for things like this and fans like to be all together, they like to share these moments, the memories, and that is what it is all about.

"All we need is for England to come through and progress."

England face Slovenia on Tuesday, June 25, with Gareth Southgate's Three Lions all about qualified barring a monumental slip-up, and ahead of the game, Clibbens encouraged locals who have not experienced the fan zone to go down to Brunton Park and give it a try.

He said: "You have got to get down here, it is a great place to be, lots of things for everybody.

"There is lots of food, lots of drinks and a great atmosphere. Please come and try it out."
