Fantasy Football Gameweek 9 tips – who to buy, sell and keep
Everyone’s favourite international break is done (no, really – isn’t the UEFA Nations League lovely?) and it’s back to business for the Premier League’s finest this weekend. Oh, and Cardiff.
Whether fans like the Nations League or not, players and coaches certainly seem to be taking it more seriously. With Euros qualification up for grabs, fewer international teams are losing players to light ‘injuries’, and there are fewer early substitutions for big stars.
Dropping Harry Kane from your fantasy team because he looks a bit knackered might be an over-reaction, but in the short term it’s not a bad idea to target players who haven’t had two competitive games since Gameweek 8. It’s information that’s best used as a tie-breaker rather than defining factor, but sometimes a break is all you need...

Buy! Benjamin Mendy, Man City (DF, £6.2m)

There are a handful of premium defenders worth considering, but Mendy should be top of that list. His recent metatarsal injury made his ownership (and therefore price) nosedive, but he’s back fit and should be back in your team too.
Compared to other pricey options at the back – think Marcos Alonso (£7.0m) and Kieran Trippier (£6.3m) – Mendy is now both cheaper and significantly less owned.
Neither of those things will last long, and while the Frenchman’s rate of one assist per game will regress, he will be back playing on the left wing against Burnley this week after a rare defensive role against Liverpool in Gameweek 8.

Coming off back-to-back goalless gameweeks, both of which were ugly losses for Fulham (3-0 at Everton, 5-1 to Arsenal), it’s understandable that some fantasy managers would be looking to switch out the striker.
There are a couple of compelling reasons to stick with the big Serb, though, not least of which is the Cottagers’ lighter fixture schedule for their next three games. A trip to Cardiff this week should be the perfect tonic for any Premier League team’s form troubles, while Bournemouth and Huddersfield are both fixtures with points up for grabs.
Any worries about Mitrovic’s form were dispelled with a brace against Montenegro in the UEFA Nations League during the international break. Stick with him.
Sell! Wilfried Zaha, Crystal Palace (FW, £7.0m)

Mo Salah has been a popular sell target this week, understandably so with his injury and insanely high price point, but Zaha is another highly owned player set for a tough few weeks.
The 25-year-old forward has been the subject of some rough treatment so far this season, which has taken its toll as he carries a knock into Gameweek 9. While he’s expected to start for Palace, the Eagles have a daunting run of fixtures coming up (though some light relief in the form of Manchester United) and expectations for the otherwise-excellent Ivorian will need to be tempered. After travelling to Everton this week, Roy Hodgson’s men face Arsenal (h), Chelsea (a), Spurs (h) and Manchester United (a) through the rest of November.
With Zaha clearly the focal point for Palace, sides will undoubtedly focus on shutting him down and force the likes of Andros Townsend & Co. to step up. Mitrovic, Marko Arnautovic and Callum Wilson (plus Josh King if he’s fit) look better value for the next month.
