FedExCup Playoffs: Collin Morikawa's clubs were stranded on the tarmac while he watched helplessly

Collin Morikawa underwent every traveler’s, and every golfer’s, worst nightmare on Sunday afternoon.

Morikawa, after boarding his flight to Memphis for the FedEx St. Jude Invitational and the start of the FedExCup Playoffs, could only look out in horror from his window seat on the plane.

His golf bag was just sitting there on the tarmac, and nobody was nearby or doing anything about it.

Thankfully, Morikawa’s clubs made it to Memphis on time and seem to be intact.

“There’s a hero out there somewhere,” he said.

While it’s not a major week, it’s about as bad a time to have travel issues as any.

Morikawa enters this week’s tournament at TPC Southwind at No. 23 in the FedExCup standings. The two-time major winner is coming off of a rough stretch, where he missed the cut at both the Genesis Scottish Open and the British Open last month. He hasn’t competed since.

Though his postseason got off to a rocky, horrifying start, Morikawa will make it out as scheduled on Thursday, clubs in hand.
