Fedor is Going to Fight for…

Fedor Emelianenko Faces Fabio Maldonado in Russia for His Next Fight

Although for weeks all signs – and even a couple premature reports – were pointing to Fedor Emelianenko finally fighting for the UFC when he makes his return to mixed martial arts, they mystery still remains.

A guest at Bellator MMA's Dynamite Fan Fest in San Jose, Calif., on Thursday, Fedor addressed his return to MMA, but he didn't shed any light on whether or not he would be headed to the UFC.

It's been three years since we've seen “The Last Emperor” step into a cage or a ring to fight. But Fedor said he continued to train the entire time – albeit not at the same pace as he would for a specific fight – and he is returning now because, simply put, “I feel I am ready.”

So what's the hold-up? Why the big secrecy about what organization he'll fight for? Unless he's throwing up a dense smokescreen, Bellator chief Scott Coker has already said “been there, done that,” his company is not in the running for Fedor's services.

“I promoted Fedor for two years. It was an honor. (But) there were some challenges in the whole M-1 relationship before,” Coker told MMAFighting on Thursday. “He told me he's going to make a decision in the next three to four weeks to tell the world where he's gonna go.”

So it's got to be the UFC, right?

That would seem to be only logical, but neither Fedor nor his representative, Jerry Millen, would spill the beans to MMAFighting's Luke Thomas on Thursday, instead alluding to the idea that Fedor's return had yet to be finalized.

Millen confirmed that an announcement is expected sometime within the next three weeks, but didn't give any further clues as to when, who, or where.

When Fedor returns, no matter where he lands, who would you like to see him fight?
