That's a heck of a lot of money.

From Road & Track

If you're incredibly well-heeled and have been waiting on your moment to buy a piece of racing history, have we got the car for you. It's expected to go for more than $30 million, so it's not exactly what we'd call "cheap," but it's so cool, we're pretty sure it's worth the price.

Update: It just sold for $35.7 million at the auction today.

First of all, this particular 1957 Ferrari 355 Sport has an absolutely gorgeous design. Second, it's been driven by some of the most famous drivers of all time.

Do you remember Sir Sterling Moss, the guy whose performance at the 1955 Mille Miglia is still the stuff of legends? Yeah, he drove this Ferrari.

What about Mike Hawthorne, the British racing legend who won a Formula One World Championship in 1958 and who also won 24 Hours of LeMans in 1955, the year of one of the worst wrecks on record? Yeah, he drove this Ferrari, too.

As for its own racing success, this car placed second in 1957's Mille Miglia and went on to win the 1958 Cuba Grand Prix.

With a history like that, it's no wonder the auction house expects it to end up being one of the most expensive cars ever sold.
