One of the annual staples of modern football and gaming culture is almost upon us as EA Sports prepare to release the 30th edition in their beloved FIFA series.

FIFA 23 is significant as the last in the franchise, before a rebrand will be introduced after more than three decades following a high-profile split between the governing body and EA announced earlier this year.

There are plenty of new features to look forward to, including HyperMotion2 Technology making player movements more realistic than ever, cross-play plus the introduction of women’s club teams and both the men’s and women’s World Cups.

There is also the quirk of the addition of AFC Richmond, the fictional outfit from hit US TV comedy Ted Lasso.

Here is everything you need to know about FIFA 23 ahead of its official release.

FIFA 23 release date

FIFA 23 will be released in the UK and elsewhere in the world for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Google Stadia and PS4 on Friday, September 30, 2022.

As has become custom, fans can either get the Standard version of the game or the more expensive Ultimate edition, with pre-orders able to be made now.

Meanwhile, the FIFA 23 Ultimate Team web app launched on Wednesday evening (September 21).

When is FIFA 23 early access?

Those that have pre-ordered the Ultimate edition of FIFA 23 will get access to the game three days before it officially goes on sale, on September 27.

When does the FIFA 23 trial come out?

Those signed up to subscription service EA Play, which currently costs £3.99 per month, will get a free 10-hour trial on September 27.

FIFA 23 price

In the UK, the Standard version of FIFA 23 will cost £59.99. The Ultimate edition is priced at £89.99.

FIFA 23 ratings

As ever, the ratings for this year’s game have been leaked and slowly teased over recent months, with the full list being unveiled this week.

Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappe and Kevin De Bruyne all share the honour of being the highest-ranked players with overall ratings of 91, closely followed by Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Cristiano Ronaldo, Thibaut Courtois and Manuel Neuer on 90.

A glut of players on 89 features Neymar, Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, Sadio Mane, N’Golo Kante, Casemiro, Ederson, Alisson Becker, Joshua Kimmich and Jan Oblak, with goal machine Erling Haaland surprisingly trailing on 88 as only the third-highest-ranked City player.
