Fightin' Maiden Basketball back in Class 4A top 25 poll

Jan. 22—Sporting an overall record of 22-8 (5-0 in District 16-4A), the Jacksonville High School girl's basketball team checked in at No. 23 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 4A poll, which was revealed Monday.

The Maidens defeated Madisonville, 57-52, in Jacksonville Friday night. The Lady Mustangs came into the tilt ranked No. 17 in the state.

Jacksonville sits alone at the top of the conference standings after the first round of games. The Maidens lead second place Madisonville by a game and third place Bullard by two games.

At 6:15 p.m. Tuesday Jacksonville will visit Hudson.

The Maidens toppled the Lady Hornets, 69-16, when the two teams faced off in Jacksonville earlier this month.
