Christian Eriksen has been officially unveiled as a Manchester United player.

The Danish midfielder posed for photos in the famous red kit at Carrington on Tuesday before giving his first official interview with the club website.

Eriksen had earlier been spotted driving into the training ground alongside fellow new arrival Lisandro Martinez, who is also expected to be presented imminently as a United player.

The former Tottenham playmaker officially signed for the Red Devils as a free agent on July 15, having taken his time deciding between a move to Old Trafford or penning a contract extension at Brentford, where he had successfully rebuilt his career during a productive six-month stint from January.

Eriksen, who left Inter Milan in December 2021 with Serie A rules not permitting him to play with the implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) device fitted after the cardiac arrest he suffered on the pitch at Euro 2020 last summer, penned a three-year contract that will run until 2025.

He is the second arrival of the Erik ten Hag era in Manchester after Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia, soon to be followed by Argentine centre-back Martinez.

Eriksen’s unveiling occurred on the same day that wantaway superstar Cristiano Ronaldo finally returned to Carrington for crunch talks over his future with Ten Hag.

On now being a United player, Eriksen said: “Ah, very new! It’s weird, I never thought it would actually happen, so to be here, like you say being a Manchester United player, it’s very special.”

Having missed the tour to Australia and preceding thrashing of Liverpool in Thailand, the 30-year-old could make his United debut on Saturday in their penultimate friendly of the summer against Atletico Madrid in Oslo.

A United team will also host Rayo Vallecano in Ten Hag’s Old Trafford debut on Sunday before the club begin the 2022/23 Premier League season at home to Brighton on August 7.

And Eriksen has made it clear that Ten Hag was a crucial factor behind joining.

“Very,” he added. “I want to come here to play football, I don’t come here just for the logo itself, I want to come here and play.

“Obviously to speak with the manager and hear his ideas and have conversations with him on the football terms was great and ideal for me to get the decision and the possibility of coming to Manchester United.”
