'First Test favourite' Tremlett says Clarke's wicket 'most important to him'

Melbourne, Oct 28 (ANI): England bowler Chris Tremlett, who is favourite to replace injured Tim Bresnan for an Ashes spot, has said that it is the wicket of Australian captain Michael Clarke that is most important to him.

According to The Age, Tremlett pointed out that it has always been important that bowlers target the captain in any side and obviously Clarke has been Australia's form player in the last few years.

With James Anderson, Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad set to lead England's attack, the battle for the final spot appears to be between Chris Tremlett, Steven Finn and the inexperienced Boyd Rankin, the report said.

A betting man would back the 201-centimetre Tremlett to snare that place for the first Test, the report added.

The tour match, starting on Thursday, is being played at the WACA Ground, the venue at which Tremlett took eight wickets during England's 2010 Ashes winning series, the report further said.

He took Michael Clarke's wicket in both innings, beating him for pace and bounce, according to the report. (ANI)
