Former Carlisle United hero Omari Patrick is back on the move.

The Blues' Wembley goalscorer has turned down a new contract at relegated Sutton United.

Patrick has opted to leave Sutton after their relegation to the National League.

The 27-year-old turned down the chance to stay at Carlisle last summer despite helping them to promotion to League One.

After stressing he wanted guarantees about playing on the wing, he joined Sutton.

But a poor 2023/24 campaign for the south London club saw them finish second bottom of League Two.

Patrick made 43 appearances and scored six goals for Sutton.

That followed a memorable finale to his second spell at Carlisle which saw Patrick score the dramatic late equaliser against Stockport County in the 2023 League Two play-off final.

That earned a 1-1 draw and took the final to extra-time - United going on to win on penalties.

Patrick hit 14 goals in 62 appearances from January 2022 to May 2023, and seven in 47 outings in his initial Carlisle spell from 2020 to 2021, after which he joined Burton Albion.

He is joined in leaving Sutton by striker Harry Smith, who has also turned down the offer of a contract extension.

"We thank both for their services throughout the season and wish them all the best in the future," said Sutton in a statement.
