Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina says he wants to "write one last chapter" and join the 9th club of his illustrious career.

The 41-year-old played for the Reds between 2005 and 2014 after he was signed from Villarreal by manager Rafa Benitez and this week announced he would be leaving the Spanish club, who he returned to in 2022.

In total, Reina has accumulated over 1,000 appearances across a professional career that has included spells with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Napoli and AC Milan. He was also part of the Spain side that won consecutive European Championships titles and the 2010 World Cup.

But despite turning 42 next month, the Spaniard has revealed that he is on the lookout for the final chapter of his playing career after his release from Villarreal.

"It's not easy to say goodbye to what has been, is and will always be my home," said Reina. "Now I need to find the place that will help me write the last chapter, feeling very prepared and motivated to do so."
