Former Bradford City boss Derek Adams is in the frame for the manager role at Swindon Town, according to Alan Nixon.

The 48-year-old has been out of work since resigning from Ross County in February, only four months after leaving Morecambe to join them and is on the hunt for his next role.

With Swindon surveying their options for their next manager, Adams is apparently under consideration.

Adams has been spotted watching Swindon, he was in the stands for their 3-2 win over AFC Wimbledon earlier this month, leaving supporters wondering whether he was going to take over, although he has posted on LinkedIn that he had been taking in games across the leagues as he prepares to return to management.

He also teased on LinkedIn that he was searching for a first-team coach, fitness and conditioning coach, and a tactical analyst to join his backroom staff in his next role.

The former Bradford boss has previously won promotion four times in his career, winning both the Scottish First and Second Divisions with Ross County, and being promoted from League Two with both Plymouth Argyle and Morecambe.

Swindon are yet to permanently replace Michael Flynn, who left the club in January, with Gavin Gunning having been in interim charge for the final 18 games of the season.

Writing in his programme notes for the final game of the season against Morecambe, owner Clem Morfuni discussed his thoughts on the hunt for a new manager.

He said: “We know across a number of areas that we need to do better and we will always take the opportunity to learn from this campaign, ensuring that we have a team capable of challenging for promotion sooner rather than later.

“This is why we will be assessing the best management team to deliver the success we aspire for ahead of the new season in plenty of time, to allow us to plan and ensure we have the right mix of experience and youth to build a team capable of promotion, which remains our ambition.”

The current incumbent Gunning was asked following the Wimbledon game about the presence of Adams but did not believe it to be significant.

He said: “I imagine he was just coming to watch the game, he was at Ross County last I heard for a couple of games, I don’t know what happened there.

“I wouldn’t imagine there is anything there.”
