Milind Kumar, who has been part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals (then Daredevils) squads, has announced his retirement from Indian cricket. He has now signed with the Minor League Cricket in the USA, where he will represent The Philadelphians.

The 30-year-old follows the footsteps of former India under-19 captain Unmukt Chand, who had also retired from Indian cricket to move to the US. Before Chand, Smit Patel, Harmeet Singh and Siddarth Trivedi, who had played for the Rajasthan Royals, had joined the MiLC.

According to BCCI’s rule, a player (male) cannot play in other leagues if he hasn’t retired from Indian cricket.

“Yes, I’ve informed the BCCI of my decision to retire from cricket in India. I enjoyed playing for Delhi with great players like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Ishant Sharma, and it’s time to move on,” Milind Kumar told Times of India.

Milind Kumar, who had scored over 1000 runs in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season, was part of the Delhi side in the 2014 IPL and was with RCB in the 2019 season. He, however, didn’t get a chance to make his IPL debut in any of those two seasons.

He represented Delhi, Sikkim and Tripura in domestic cricket, scoring 2988 first-class runs at 46.68 with 9 hundreds and 15 fifties. He aggregated 2023 List-A runs at 43.04, and 1176 T20 runs at 29.40.

He was part of the Delhi side which defeated England in a practice match in 2013 where he scored 78* off 85. He also represented Board President’s XI against New Zealand in 2017.

After leaving the cricket under BCCI, Milind Kumar will now be eligible to play in other franchise leagues. Smit Patel, who quit Indian cricket earlier this year, has been picked by the Barbados Tridents for this year’s Caribbean Premier League.
