Scotland- managed by former Reading boss Steve Clarke- have been knocked out of Euro 2024 at the group stage.

Failing to progress past the first round in all 12 of their appearances at major tournaments, their Euro 2024 journey in Germany was halted on Sunday night after a last-gasp 1-0 defeat to Hungary.

Battered 5-1 by the hosts in matchday one, a 1-1 draw with Switzerland gave the Tartan Army hope that a win would see them into the knockout phase for the first time.

However, despite dominating the ball against Hungary, a goal was impossible to find and Kevin Csoboth did the damage with the last kick of the game.

Clarke, in his second tournament as manager of his country, is yet to win a game at Euro 2020 or  Euro 2024.

A playing legend at Chelsea, the 60-year-old managed Reading between 2014 and 2015, leading the Royals into their first FA Cup semi-final for 88 years and having them challenge for a play-off spot until a downturn in form before Christmas.

This was exacerbated when supporters discovered he had held talks with Fulham for their vacant role.

Former Reading defender Nathan Ake remains at the tournament with the Netherlands, while Georgia can still progress and Zurab Khizanishvili is on their coaching staff.
