Former Reading favourite Tom McIntyre has bounced immediately back to the Championship as his new side, Portsmouth, secured the League One title on Tuesday evening.

25-year-old McIntyre rose through the ranks with his boyhood club and made over 100 appearances for the first team.

A mainstay in the side in recent seasons, the former Scotland youth international played 38 matches as the Royals were relegated out of the Championship last season.

Featuring just 10 times under Ruben Selles, the defender opted to join John Mousinho's league leaders in January for just £75,000.

Enduring a debut to forget, the versatile figure was sent off and picked up a season-ending injury against Northampton Town, playing 54 minutes for his new club this season.

Pompey return to the second tier as champions following their 3-2 win over Barnsley and could hit as many as 100 points this campaign.

Following a decade in the lower leagues, Portsmouth have battled financial mismanagement and now return to the Championship for the first time in 12 years.
