Smith came off the bench to earn his 55th cap for his country as they claimed their sixth title, having gone into the competition as reigning champions.

Last month, he signed for new A-League club in Auckland FC after his short stint at Macarthur FC came to an end, having left English football when he had his contract at League Two side MK Dons terminated by mutual consent in February.

He will play club football in New Zealand for the first time as Auckland prepare for their first season in the A-League.

In total, Smith made over 250 appearances for the Blues, scoring 23 goals after coming through the Town's academy, before leaving the club to join MLS side Colorado Rapids in 2018.

After two years in the United States, he return to England for a brief spell at Sunderland and then three seasons at Colchester United.
